Second Chances for Prisoners and HMP Highpoint

In partnership with City & Guilds Training, Lynch has established the Construction Plant Training Centre, at HMP Highpoint to provide prisoners with the essential skills needed for successful reintegration into the workforce. Before this, our efforts were scattered. We were transporting people to isolated training centres nationwide, navigating complex prison procedures each time. While we loved to see individual successes, we knew we could have a bigger impact by centralising our efforts. 

The 'Second Chances' programme is our solution: a purpose-built training centre entirely within HMP Highpoint, designed to equip participants with valuable plant operating skills. This life-changing programme is the first of its kind in the UK, preparing individuals during the last six months of their sentences to re-enter society with employment-ready skills, reducing the likelihood of reoffending and creating a pathway to a brighter future. The training centre is open to those serving at Highpoint as well as other prisons, offering a centralised approach with far-reaching impact. Together with key stakeholders and tier-one contractors, we?ve built strong local employment opportunities, supported by donations from partners like Mick George and Skanska.
