Machine Control Support Engineer

 

Purpose: Support the MC solutions within the Lynch Plant fleet.

Reporting Lines:

You will report into the Machine Control Technical Manager.

Focus areas of the role:

The success of the role will be measured against the effective implementation of the following focus areas:

  • Technical support of all Company Machine Control solutions both on and off machines.
  • Liaise with clients and ensure the site has suitable site infrastructure (Base station, SmartNET/VRS, Total Stations and Local grids).
  • Pre project planning and liaison with clients to ensure the correct file design and format is created for each project.
  • Promotion and support of the Company Machine Control products across all the construction sectors.
  • Field, Depot and Remote based role requiring self-initiative and good time management with a proactive attitude to customer requirements.
  • Support our dedicated machine control training team, ensuring they are kept up to date with newly released machine control solutions.

    • Provide technical and installation support to other members of the machine control team.
    • Provide technical support and training to customers for all company machine control products.
    • Provide technical support and training for all machine control applications including GNSS, Total Station and Laser solutions.
    • Provide technical support and training for site infrastructure setups.
    • Provide and support data preparation services, making use of software packages such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre and Leica iCON office
    • Provide technical support via phone, email, and remote desktop software
    • Offer support and ideas for use of machine control solutions tailored to customers’ requirements.
    • Document and report technical events and issues to management team.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of all Machine Control products offered by Lynch Machine Control.

    Education & Qualifications/Experience

    • Higher Education Qualifications – Mechanical/Survey/Civil Engineering with 2 to 3 years site experience or associated qualifications and or experienced based industry qualification.
    • Proven experience with GNSS, Total station and Laser machine control equipment and the use and application of such technology within the construction industry.
    • A working knowledge of Surveying/Construction instruments and plant machinery.
    • Working knowledge of design and data processing software packages including AutoCAD, LSS, Trimble Business Centre and iCON office.
    • Experience of working within the UK construction industry (Civils, Road, Infrastructure)
    • Strong coherent communication skills, both verbally and written
    • Ability to understand technical or mechanical issues related to construction machinery
    • A strong aptitude to technology and associated software developments.
    • An understanding of UK construction practices
    • Entrepreneurial drive and strong work ethic
    • Strong sense of urgency, responsibility, and accountability
    • A clean UK driving licence
